May 5, 2023 — I moved accommodation today; as you’ll remember, I booked a different hostel for my next two nights in Gili Air since I was originally supposed to climb Mount Rinjani and then decided against it.
I woke up late and skipped vinyasa yoga in the morning (it’s not my favourite style). I got dressed, packed, checked out, and left my bag at the front desk. Originally, I planned to have the free breakfast at the cafe attached to H2O, but it was packed so I decided I’d rather go to Barefoot Blondie, which was actually recommended to me by a woman who was seated next to me at Juju yesterday. She commented on how good my lunch looked and offered a couple suggestions of other places to try. Barefoot Blondie was one of them, and it was actually somewhere I’d hoped to go before leaving the island.
I pigged out at breakfast and ordered the Barefoot Blondie breakfast as well as a cinnamon roll to go with my iced vanilla latte. The cinnamon roll was so worth it though: almost as big as my hand, cream cheese icing, and delicious. What’s especially funny about that breakfast is that the woman who recommended the spot to me was sitting across the bar from me — such a small world!

I got some notes down about the last few days for blog posts and ate, read, and sipped water for a while after I finished breakfast. It’s such a different, but nice, experience to feel completely unhurried to vacate a seat in a restaurant.
I headed back to H2O for my stuff and then walked over to Captain Coconuts, my hostel for the next two nights. I had to wait to get into the room as it was just early afternoon and check-in was at two or three in the afternoon. I did a logic puzzle by the pool to pass the time.
When I finally did get into the room, I organized the stuff in my bag and got all my laundry set aside. I went downstairs, dropped it off at the bar, and got my water bottle refilled.
That done, I took a cold shower and laid down for a while.

When I got up, the sun was setting. I took a walk down to the beach to try and catch the last of it, but I mostly missed it. The sky was still beautiful. I called home and talked with Mom for a while, then found a restaurant for dinner. I had an Air Sunset cocktail (which was excellent) with dinner.

After eating, I headed back to the hostel and talked with Dad for a bit, then went to sleep late after finishing a book that I bought during dinner (whoops).
