Day 82: Cairns, Australia

April 18, 2023 — An incredibly lazy day today on the heels of a somewhat lazy day yesterday. I woke up extremely late (like, closing in on noon, late) and scrolled on Pinterest for most of the day.

It was raining and icky outside and in my room it was cool and calm and dry and comfy.

But finally, I got myself dressed and went out to Jimmy’s Burgers for a “lupper” sort of situation. Lunch + supper = lupper, get it? It was actually really awesome. I’d walked by several times and it looked like a pretty cool, hip place. They also had a covered patio so I was able to sit outside and get some fresh air while enjoying some good food. I got a chocolate thickshake (and it was thicc, let me tell you) and a Caesar salad with chicken.

Did you know that Caesar salad is actually a little hit and miss in Australia? I’m used to Caesar salad with lettuce, dressing, Parmesan cheese, maybe some bacon. In Australia, they commonly do the full Caesar salad which has egg and I’m not a fan of that. So I was very happy to have a “normal” Caesar salad at Jimmy’s that night. It was delicious.

After I finished dinner, I went for a little walk and read some of my book by the water while I waited for and watched the tide come in.

Later, I went back to the hostel and showered, then went to Woolies and bought some popcorn. I had my popcorn with How I Met Your Mother, then did some blogging and went to bed.
