Day 20: Bondi Beach, Sydney, Australia

February 15, 2023 — This morning dawned warm and sunny (thank goodness!) following the previous day’s rain. I geared up for the walk from Bondi to Coogee, which is a 6km track leading walkers from Bondi Beach to Coogee Beach and crossing 6 beaches total, including the start and end beaches. It has amazing views of the coastline the whole way and I loved watching the ocean spray against the cliffs. Just look at these gorgeous pictures!

When we finally arrived in Coogee, I hung out with one of the girls that was staying in the same dorm as me and a friend of hers that she had met in Melbourne (small world: we’d all stayed at Space Hotel in Melbourne, although we were there at different times). We laid on the beach and snacked for a little while and eventually, a friend of my roommate’s that she knew from New York joined us as well. We decided to walk over to the Coogee Beach Bath in the distance and had some serious fun there — the waves crashing in and filling the pool are insane!

I actually had so much fun in here. So cool.

After the baths and once we’d dried off a little bit, we all headed off in search of dinner. One of the first spots we passed had a rooftop patio and had some pretty sweet happy hour deals. After exploring a couple other options, we headed there. Turned out, it was the Coogee Legion and required membership to eat or drink there. Which we went for! One of the girls signed up for a membership at $10/year (pretty sweet!) and we went up.

I’ll tell you one thing right off the bat: they have some of the most beautiful bathrooms I’ve seen in a while!

The drinks and food are pretty excellent too — we all went for drinks (I had a rye and coke) and appetizer-style items for dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed the calamari plate that I decided on!

We ate and drank and talked for a while, until eventually we had to say goodbye and head back to Bondi Beach. My roommate and I took the bus to Bondi Junction and then onward to Bondi Beach. It was an excellent way to spend my last day in Bondi!
