February 3, 2023 — I had to switch rooms in the morning, with a checkout time of 12:00pm and a check-back-in time of 2:00pm. I spent some time in the morning packing my stuff up, then wandered down to the kitchen for breakfast.
I “checked out” around 11:00am and left my bag at the hostel. From there, I went to the library to do some work on post-Australia travel plans and the blog (because as well all know, I am currently very behind!).

Just past 2:00pm, I headed back to the hostel and settled into my new room. I headed out for a walk shortly after. My plan was to try and do a little shopping as it has come to my attention that I could use a nicer shirt and another pair of nicer bottoms that I could wear as a more upscale-casual outfit to nicer-looking restaurants and while in cities. I found myself around Flinders Street and tried out the old post office (which is now an H&M). I unfortunately didn’t have any luck, but I’ll be continuing to look!
On my walk back to the hostel, I stopped by Woolworths for a little more cooking supplies. I was also trying to find a little bottle of rye that I could mix with Coke, because I was really missing my typical rye-and-Coke, but I was unfortunately unsuccessful. As far as I can tell, Australia doesn’t sell small bottles of alcohol!

I made dinner while watching a few movies, and tried to call Ireland later that evening as well to set up a few things for June. Unfortunately, it was not my night. Instead of heading to bed, though, I decided to work on the blog some more in the kitchen for a little bit. Soon after, I got a call from Mom and spoke with her and Dad for a little while. When we hung up, I curled up in bed and worked some more on the blog before finally shutting down and getting some sleep. So ended a bit of a slow-down day in my life on the road.
